Japanese Speech Contest

Date: March 26th 2023

Place: Yuko-en, Georgetown, KY

The Japanese Speech Contest is a contest for Japanese language learners in/around Kentucky.

The objective of this contest is to allow students to give a speech/skit/presentation in Japanese that is appropriate for their language level and to motivate them to continue studying Japanese.

The contest is open to all Middle School, High School, and College students who speak Japanese as a second language (foreign language) and who are not heritage speakers of the language.

Registration Deadline:
March 17th 2023.

📌 The student's teacher needs to be a KAJLT member (annumal membership).

Highlights

Student Participation

Through this contest, all the levels of Japanese study (elementary through college) in/around Kentucky will be connected, further advancing Japanese education and culture in/around the KY.

Taiko Drum Performance

We are very excited that we will have a Taiko drum performance by the Berea college Taiko Club.

Ikebana

We will have Ikebana (flower arrangement) during the event.

Obento

We will also take orders for Obento boxes for lunch.

Speech

Students give a speech in Japanese that is appropriate for their language level and to motivate them to continue studying Japanese. The contest will also allow them to talk about things that interest them and to demonstrate their knowledge of Japan.
