面白いこと

三年前に一人で日本に行った時、意外なことがありました。山口県に住んでいる友達をたずねた時のことです。行く前に道順を調べて、田中さんにもLINEで到着の時間を伝えました。しかし、心配することが一つありました。シムカードがなかったので、到着後に田中さんに連絡する方法はLINEだけでした。駅にWIFIがなければ、知らない日本人に道を聞かなければいけないということが心配でした。

出発する日も本当に大変でした。天気が悪くて、飛行機も新幹線も遅れて到着しました。約束の時間に到着できなかったら、大変だろうと思いました。そして、悪いことに、宮野にいく列車の中でバックパックを置き忘れました。列車を降りた後で気がつきました。時間は真夜中でした。友達に連絡ができなかったし、近くの旅館がなかったし、道端で寝ようかなぁと考え始めました。

絶望を感じながら歩いた時、セブンイレブンを見つけて入りました。そのセブンでWIFIが使えて、友達に連絡することができたのでとても嬉しかったです。それから、田中さんに会って、家に行きました。翌朝、駅に行ったら、バックパックが届けられていました。本当に嬉しくなりました。この出来事を思い出すと、セブンイレブンに感謝しています。

An Interesting Event

Three years ago, I went to Japan alone and something unexpected happened. It was during the time when I was visiting a Japanese friend who lived in Yamaguchi Prefecture.

Before I started the journey, I looked up the routes and told my friend Tanaka about the arrival time. However, there was one issue: I did not have a Japanese SIM card on my phone, so the only way that I could contact my friend was using the app LINE. If there is no wifi near the station, I would have to ask strangers for help to find the way.

The departure day was a disaster. Both airline and train were delayed because of the bad weather. I was very worried because I knew that I would miss the appointed time with him. And something worse happened- (because I was carrying multiple luggage) I left my backpack on the train to Miyano. I did not even notice that until I got off. It was already midnight when I arrived. I could not contact my friend, and there was no hotel nearby, so I was thinking of sleeping on the street.

When I was walking hopelessly, I found a convenient store Seven-Eleven. I was able to use their wifi and to text Tanaka, so I felt relieved. Shortly he came to pick me up. The next morning, we went to the station and I got my backpack. Now when I think about this whole thing, I feel grateful to that Seven-Eleven store which saved me.
