2023 UK Japan Studies Excellence Awards
UK Japan Studies values students' commitment and passion.
As a way of recognizing their contributions,
the program grants six awards to students who demonstrate exceptional accomplishments during the academic year.
Students can submit their academic papers, creative work, or projects from Japan-related courses at UK,
depending on track requirements. Collaborative work (e.g. co-translation, co-producing, co-performance) is welcome.

All entries must be students' original work and meet the University of Kentucky's policy on Academic Integrity.
Submitted work may be used for promotional purposes by UK Japan Studies.
The judges panel consists of Japan Studies faculty and affiliated instructors.

A Free Topic Related to Japan
Japan-related / Japan-inspired Research Project
Any Japan-related or Japan-inspired piece that does not fall under the previously listed tracks
All entries must be URL links to your files stored in cloud space (such as Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive).
Instead of uploading your file, you provide a URL link that is accessible to judges.
A student may submit one entry per track, but not more than one for the same track.
They may submit multiple entries for different tracks,
but are not allowed to use the same work in more than one track.
Eligibility
- UK students who are enrolled in Japan-related courses during Fall 2022 and/or Spring 2023.
Result
- The finalists of each track will be announced at the end of April.
The awarding ceremony will follow at the end of the spring semester.
